When I was 8 years old my Mother bought me a present that would change my life forever! It was Richard Scarry's "Best Rainy day Book Ever". In my little hands that book felt huge. It had a new paper smell and when I gathered my pencils, scissors and glue and opened that giant book I was lost in pure creativity for hours upon endless hours! It changed my life forever, and I didn't know it then, but it would put me on a path of creativy that brought me where I am today. After that day, I would go to the thrift stores with my Grandmother and haunt the aisles in search of anything I could create with, old crayons, paper, notebooks, bags of yarn and ribbon scraps....you name it, I used it! Even old rolls of register tape I could get for a dime I would scoop up, throw in the basket, take home and create wonderful masterpieces! Thank you to Richard Scarry for inspiring me at such a yound age to cut, paste, draw and create, to my Mother for giving me that gift that would change my life forever, and my grandmother for encouraging my artisitic abilities and letting me tag along behind her in the thrift stores and never complaining or questioning when I tossed little bags of treasures into her shopping cart.
Since the time I could hold a pencil I have loved to draw! My new found love is markers!!! I have recently invested in an array of copics and a set of spectrum noir pens, as well as drug out my watercolor pencils! Needless to say I am having a blast and creating a "new look" I have always loved drawing and painting digitally, but theres no substitute for holding those pens in your hand and watching your characters come to life! Hope you all enjoy them as much as I do!
